Polish Dragon P.I.

Polish Dragon P.I.
By
Steve Zimcosky

My Review:
Steve Zimcosky’s Polish Dragon P.I. is a fast paced mystery. The author has written an intriguing beginning to the story and he wasted no time in introducing the main characters to us. I liked the way Tom, a private investigator, met Cindy in a restaurant. By seeing Cindy, Tom figured out that she was a little worried and wanted to discuss something right away. They had a two hours discussion about her missing brother Paul and the family sword.

Tom somehow felt that the sword was calling him. Talking about this case could be a decision he may have to regret later but he will get to know that only with time. Soon, the action started and we could see Cindy and Tom on a journey to Taiwan. Cindy is taking her father’s body to Taiwan and she doesn’t want to do this alone, so she offers Paul’s ticket to Tom. Will Tom get more clues regarding the case in Taiwan? Within just a few pages, the author has created a brilliant world.

I would love to read more books by Steve. His writing style is amazing. The storyline is brilliant. This is one of the best private investigation stories that I have read. I liked the way the author introduced a bit of an environment like dim sum in the scene of Chinese restaurant. This book is an engaging read. I felt like I was in the story myself while reading it. It would be amazing to watch a movie based on this story plot. Go ahead with this book without thinking twice.

Heart Amongst Stars

Hearts Amongst Stars
By
K Soriano

My Review:
We could be mad at someone and still love them. Recently I heard this line in one movie. In this poetry collection, the poet/author has also mentioned how a person in love got detached because she was angry at her lover but then once their fingers entangled, she got attached again.

The poems are written in a lucid language so even if you are not a die-hard poetry lover, you could interpret the meaning easily. Narration is smooth and strong. Some poems are heart breaking and some expresses the amazing feeling of being in love. Little images are also included in some of the poems and they look sweet.

The poems from the part “In The Night Sky” are my favorite. This poetry book is worth reading. It made me emotional at times as I can very well understand the deep feelings behind these poems. Cover photo is nice. This poetry book is an engaging read. If you are a big fan of poems then try this book. I am sure you won’t regret reading it. Add it to your bookshelf right away.

Betrayal in Black

Betrayal in Black
By
Mark M Bello

My Review:
Being a fan of legal thrillers, I have picked Mark M Bello’s couple of novels and I loved each one of them. Betrayal in Black is the fourth installment in the Zachary Blake Legal Thriller series.

Two young black men robbed a Burger King. Police are looking for them. When Marcus, a black man, was returning from a fair with his family, patrol officer Jones, who was on duty at that time, suspected Marcus as the Burger King suspect. On the officer’s order, Marcus pulled his car. But his wife Sarah told him to inform the cop in advance about a legal gun that he carries. When Marcus was taking out the licence and registration, Jones thought that he was pulling out the gun. Here, the mistake is totally of Officer Jones as he had given two orders to Marcus at the same time and he could obviously follow one order at a time.

Marcus was shot by an officer for not following his command. Whatever Jones had done isn’t write. Will people go on protest as the deceased was black and the officer who shot is a White? This is a nail-biting story. The twists and turns in the story helped me to enjoy this book more. Writing style is brilliant. He describes the world created by him in detail. Please be advised that this book has sensitive topics. It is a story worth reading. Grab this right now.

Mark M. Bello

My Review:
If the stories involving investigation, legal trial, courtroom drama, and crime are of your interest then Mark’s Betrayal in Blue would perfectly fit your reading taste.

Recently I read the third book in A Zachary Blake Legal Thriller series. Dearborn Police Captain Jack Dylan seeks help from the Trial Lawyer Zachary Blake whose recent cases’ success got him many cases to investigate. While finding the source behind the upcoming Sarin threat on Dearborn, Jack finds himself in trouble. To prove his innocence, he needs help from Zachary.

The third book in the series is my favorite till now and I appreciate the plot behind this book. Mark has a great ability and knowledge to knit stories around courtroom drama. Novel involves some sensitive issues like religion, etc but the author has managed them well and written it nicely. Characters are superb in this one. I got much knowledge about investigation and courtroom drama by reading this legal thriller. Author has created an intense world inside this book and I enjoyed it a lot.

Woman of God Stop Looking For Love

Woman of God Stop Looking For Love
By
Christy Sanderson

My Review:

Christy Sanderson’s Woman Of God: Stop Looking for Love is an intriguing story. It hooked me from the first page. I read this book on weekend and I couldn’t put it down until I finished it. Story features a God fearing teenager Adriane Haynes. At the age of fourteen, Adriane started seeing a seventeen years old guy Julian. She received warning from different people that Julian is a bad guy who beats up other people but Adriane couldn’t see that. Even though her mother made it clear that she couldn’t be physical with anyone before marriage but still in her parent’s absence, Adriane slept with Julian and they made love.

Is Julian the right man for Adriane? Will Adriane make Julian a right person or will she realize that she has fallen for the wrong man? This is a gripping story that is perfect for weekend binge reading. Description is so strong that I felt like I am a part of the story myself. Pace of the novel is fast and I didn’t feel bored anytime while reading. I like to recommend this book to teenagers, adults, etc. Add it to your tbr right away. Great story from which I learnt a few valuable life lessons as well.

Virtual Insanity

Virtual Insanity
By
Lara McKenzie

My Review:
Virtual Insanity – the title of this book is attractive enough itself and that made me pick this book. This book is not for light reading. It is full of heavy emotions and the life journey of Lara.

As a child, I was also a tomboy like Lara so that felt relatable. She was diagnosed with schizophrenia in 2012 at the age of 36, and then with schizoaffective disorder in 2017. Life hasn’t been easy for her. She became a victim of sexual abuse, astral projection, depression, loss of loved ones in her early years. She is a mother of two children – a son and a daughter but couldn’t meet them. Lara has even recovered now but she is not yet cured. She is trying her best to live a healthy life. I am glad to know she even lost weight by following a diet. This book helped me to see the world through the eyes of someone who has suffered from mental ill-health.

This story is worth reading. Whatever I have learnt from this book, I will share it with someone who is having mental ill-health. This book is a hope that if you are suffering from mental illness, you can recover. Author wants to tell the readers that even with schizophrenia, a quality life can be lived. Narration is so smooth and the cover photo is nice. The way Lara has shared about her journey via her writing with the world is a great thing that she has done. It’s a must read memoir. Go ahead and read it without thinking twice.

Ancient History

Ancient History
By
Sophie Penhaligon

Review:
Novels that are a mix of multiple genres are more interesting. Ancient History by Sophie Penhaligon is a romance novel with mystery. Protagonist of the story is beautiful Athena who is more like her father. Athena is the only child of her parents who themselves are the only child of their parents. When Athena’s grandparents died, her parents inherited their property.

Athena’s father is a renowned archeologist and is launching his book. Athena also has plans to work with her father on one book. But Athena’s father asked her to go to Paris for a little break from life and then she can think about doing a doctorate. But life has some other plans for Athena. Only two guys had caught her attention in life till now – Patrice and Dr. Jack Latimer.

Who is the right one for Athena? I guess many academic girls who get confident later in life could relate themselves with Athena. The twists and turns in the story made it more enjoyable to read. If you love stories about archeology, romance, mystery then Sophie’s Ancient History is the perfect choice. Wonderful work done by Sophie in this novel.

Lost Winds

Lost Winds
By
Rashaan Riggans

My Review:
Rashaan Riggans is the author of many novels. One of his latest works that I have read is Lost Winds, a final installment in its Stone series. A legendary storm bird with dark powers merged with Zenrachi’s soul. Because of this merge, Zen got thunderous abilities and also great dark power.

Since Zenrachi has lost his brother in an attack, his dreams of becoming Dentori, the Land of
Lightning’s champion had vanished. Once when Zenrachi was sitting atop Kenzai
Mountain, the deity had descended from above and Horiau powers merged with Zen. After some time in isolation, Zen came out to take down the
Tsurasu.

I found it interesting when Zen and his friends saw the etchings on wall that revealed various
illustrations of the two deities of Arashi
Tochi. Story is captivating. Written in 183 pages, one could read it in two sittings. Characters are written well and the plot is beautifully constructed. It would be amazing to see this fantasy story in the form of a movie. Fantasy lovers should add this book to their tbr. They will be gripped in the story till the last page for sure.

Back Again

Back Again
By
Jamie Stoudt

My Review:
Jamie Stoudt’s Back Again is a fantastic story. It is the debut book of the author but that seems a bit unbelievable to me because of the great story plot and his flawless writing.

Back Again is one of the most interesting story that I have read this year. After finishing this book, I found myself craving to read more books by Jamie.

Three years ago, Wendy Halstad dropped dead of a heart attack. Today she is standing alive in front of her husband Michael’s car asking for a ride home. Seeing Wendy alive, Michael was about to drop from a heart attack but he gathered himself well. Wendy has some unfinished business which she wants to take care of.

Soon, Michael accepted that Wendy is back. He even called his children Andy and Andie to spend time with Wendy. Wendy told that she don’t have any memory of her funeral. She has some changes to bring. For that, she went to meet Pastor Conlin, Jake (Temple Shalom in St. Paul), Imam Kourash (Al Hakeem Mosque in Minneapolis), etc. Pick a copy of this novel to know what Wendy is up to.

This is a wonderful story with a beautiful plot. I deeply appreciate Jamie’s writing and I am glad that I got the opportunity to read his novel. Jamie’s writing style is professional. Length of the novel is appropriate and his sentences are to the point and has clarity. I like to strongly recommend this book to all my friends. Go ahead with this without thinking twice.

50 Rules of Life

50 Rules of Life
By
Stephen Muzira

My Review:
“This book is for those who are not content with life as it is – but dream about life as it should be.”

This is a must read book that I like to recommend to all the people across the world. This book is a collection of 50 rules which Stephen has realized are important to live a meaningful life. Hitting our 30s and 40s can make us anxious if we reflect on life and start thinking where it is heading or what we have achieved in our life journey till now.

This book is a realization especially if you are in your thirties or older than that. I will be thirty in another two years and I am thankful to the author for opening my eyes at the right time.

It’s a book worth reading. I recommend you to read it on the weekend so after reading you can have enough time to reflect on your life, what you have done in the past, what you will do in future and how you can make your life more meaningful.

Language used in the book is lucid and I was easily able to follow everything Stephen has written. I am sure at least one out of 50 rules can be life changing for you. So guys, what are you waiting for? Give this book a read quickly.
